Constraining Characteristic Morphological Wavelengths for Venus Using Baltis Vallis

نویسندگان

چکیده

One of Venus' most enigmatic landforms is Baltis Vallis, the longest channel on surface (∼7,000 km long). We identify a possible mid-channel island that implies south to north flow direction during formation. However, since Vallis otherwise not well constrained, we analyze topographic conformity in both directions. In either case, topography appears be altered across analyzed wavelengths after formation Vallis. Fourier analysis shows two ranges prominent wavelengths, 225 ± 15 and ∼3,500 1,200 km. The shorter correspond deformation belts cross low plains. plausibly associated with dynamic uplift wavelength crust by mantle plumes, but less robustly detected. Higher resolution observations provided VERITAS EnVision missions can help resolve source location constrain if postdated canale's

Evidence for rapid and widespread emplacement of volcanic plains on Venus: Stratigraphic studies in the Baitis Vailis region

Geological mapping of the area around Baltis Vallis, the longest (6,800 km) canali-type channel on Venus, has led to the determination of stratigraphic relations which appear to be consistent over this entire region comprising -20 x 106 km 2 or -5% of the total surface of Venus. The most abundant unit in the study area, plains with wrinkle ridges (Pwr), consists of two subunits separated by the...

Characteristic wave detection in ECG signal using morphological transform

BACKGROUND Detection of characteristic waves, such as QRS complex, P wave and T wave, is one of the essential tasks in the cardiovascular arrhythmia recognition from Electrocardiogram (ECG). METHODS A multiscale morphological derivative (MMD) transform-based singularity detector, is developed for the detection of fiducial points in ECG signal, where these points are related to the characteris...

Constraining Morphological Variation and Development: Agreement in L2 Spanish

Structure building in language acquisition involves the adding of successive nodes in a hierarchical structure; its application is seen in the realm of syntax for both L1 (e.g. Clahsen, Penke & Parodi, 1993; Vainikka, 1993) and L2 acquisition (e.g. Vainikka & Young-Scholten, 1994, 1996), and to some extent within phonology as well (Brown, 1997). Although researchers in morphological theory argu...

Constraining solar abundances using helioseismology

Recent analyses of solar photospheric abundances suggest that the oxygen abundance in the solar atmosphere needs to be revised downwards. In this study we investigate the consequence of this revision on helioseismic analyses of the depth of the solar convection zone and the helium abundance in the solar envelope and find no significant effect. We also find that the revised abundances along with...
